site, roomsforpeace.org (our "site"), as a service to our visitors and their
favorite Rooms For Peace affiliate
organizations (our Site and such services, collectively, our "Services").By using this site,
YOU AGREE to comply with and be legally bound by the following terms of
use ("terms", “rules”, “policies” and “guidelines”), whether or not you become a
registered user of the Services.
Please review the following terms carefully.
IF YOU DO NOT AGREE to these
terms, you have no right to obtain information from or otherwise continue using
this Site. As our experience with these
rules develop and grow, we will change them.
Your continued use of our Services constitutes
YOUR ACCEPTANANCE of such changes. Accordingly,
we encourage you to, from time to time, review these updates and confirm your
continuing agreement.
The following policies and guidelines are presented and enforced to enhance the
work of this site and to assist in making the connections here as valuable as
possible for the greatest number of people and affiliate organizations. We
appreciate your taking the time to read through them, and we appreciate your
assistance in complying with these policies to the greatest extent possible.
The best on-line communities are "self-policing" and focused on the common good
of the community. WE WELCOME your contributions,
support and suggestions.
We are much more than an on-line Community. We are travelers/hosts Bridging many diverse communities.
As Rooms For Peace participants, WE ALL (travelers, hosts, affiliate
organizations, Rooms For Peace directors, staff and representatives) AGREE to act as
Citizen Diplomats for Peace.
What is a Citizen
Diplomat for Peace?
-
United States travelers staying with hosts (whether in other neighborhoods,
cities, or countries) will certainly "create, develop, promote, and implement
thriving, sustainable, and friendly relations between and among classes, races,
generations, genders, communities, religions, nations, states, nature, and the
excluded." (from Rooms for Peace vision statement)
-
And travelers from other countries staying with United States hosts will do the
same.
-
These local and international exchanges will also espouse both parties to
charitable organizations from around the world, bringing a deeper level of hope
and optimism in our lives and the world.
People using Rooms for Peace in this way are referred to as Citizen
Diplomats for Peace.
In so acting, we are fleshing out
roles as local, international,
and planetary citizens of a world that
works for all of us, including heirs
of generations to come You will be
meeting strangers, and you will be
a stranger to others. As all of us
use Rooms For Peace services as a
host and/or traveler/guest, we have the opportunity to develop our own
capacities for kindness as
a stranger, and to look for and support the kindness in the strangers we
meet.
YOUR AGREEMENT to this personal
exploration is necessary to participate in the
Rooms For Peace services. One of
the benefits of acting as a Citizen
Diplomat for Peace is that you have the right and joy to
Rooms For Peace facilitated GRASSROOTS PHILANTHROPY where you
bend your resources in the direction of your values.
If you are here for other purposes, you are probably in the wrong place and,
your time will be better invested elsewhere.
As a Citizen Diplomat for Peace, YOU AGREE you will not post any
material which is false, defamatory, inaccurate, abusive, vulgar, hateful,
harassing, obscene, profane, sexually oriented, threatening, invasive of a
person's privacy, adult material, or otherwise in violation of any International
or United States Federal law. YOU ALSO AGREE YOU WILL NOT post
any copyrighted material unless you own the copyright or you have written
consent from the owner of the copyrighted material. Spam, flooding,
advertisements, chain letters, pyramid schemes, and solicitations are also out
of place on this site.
You have the ability, as you register, to choose your username. We advise that
you keep the name appropriate. With this user account you are about to register,
YOU AGREE to never give your password out to another person except an
administrator, for your protection and for validity reasons.
YOU ALSO AGREE to NEVER use another person's account for any reason. We
also HIGHLY recommend you use a complex and unique password for your account, to
prevent account theft (a base level of complexity is enforced by the
registration process).
Each user is allowed only ONE (1) username/email registration on this site.
After you register and login to this site, you fill out a detailed profile. It is
YOUR RESPONSIBILITY to present clean, clear, and accurate information.
This is how you as a host and/or
traveler/guest make your first impressions that are the beginning or end of this
journey. We recommend giving your real name and providing an honest description
of yourself.
Please keep your information up-to-date, and please be responsive.
Every guest deserves at least a
response from each host contacted. If your information is out of date or you are
not responsive, it can be very frustrating for a guest.
Not only is our care for your privacy key to the success of
Rooms For Peace and our mission (see
privacy policy), your care for the privacy of your hosts and guests is
also very important to this success. For
this reason, it is paramount that, in your casual enthusiasm for our services,
YOU AGREE THAT you only share with your friends a name of your host/guest,
the city you stayed in, and a few words about your experience. Then encourage them to take the steps
to register on www.roomsforpeace.org. Then they will have access to your reviews of your successes as well as
your disappointments. This is part of the “self-policing” mentioned earlier.
Your continued use of this Site and registration to use our Services is
contingent upon your agreement to be bound by the foregoing Terms of Use and
that you are 18 years of age or older.
I SO AGREE.
LEVEL II AGREMENT TO FOLLOW:
Before you host or stay with someone, you will be asked for deeper understanding
and commitment as Citizen Diplomats and Grassroots Philanthropists.
Thank you so much for coming this far with Rooms For Peace. This journey is just beginning, and
your experiences as Citizen Diplomats and Grassroots Philanthropist are very
valuable to the refinement of Rooms For Peace. Tell us how it works for
you and how we can better serve.
If more than one person is staying with a host, each person
is required to be registered as an independent traveler. We recommend that hosts turn down people
who show up unannounced. We also recommend that hosts describe their families and others living in their home so
the traveler/s are not unnecessarily surprised.
